Taipei, Nov. 3 (CNA) Starlux Airlines announced Monday that it will begin twice weekly round-trip flights from both Taoyuan and Taichung to the Miyako Islands in Japan from February next year.
The flights to Okinawa's Shimoji Island Airport will depart from Taichung International Airport on Tuesdays and Fridays, and Taoyuan International Airport on Mondays and Thursdays, Starlux said in a news release.
The Taoyuan-Miyako service will begin on Feb. 12, with flights from Taichung starting on Feb. 13, the carrier added.
Starlux previously ran a seasonal service between Taoyuan and Miyako from Aug. 22 to Oct. 24 this year.
According to Starlux, the Miyako Islands are about a one-hour flight from Okinawa and are famous for their beautiful beaches and clear water.
They are also renowned for cave diving, with divers able to explore a large area of coral reefs, watch turtles and thousands of fish species, the carrier said.
