Wu-Xi meeting to raise trust
A meeting of the leaders of two former bitter enemies – the Kuomintang and the Communist party. The summit between Wu Po-hsiung, honorary chairman of the Kuomintang in Taiwan, and Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, was held in Beijing’s Great Hall of the People in June.
It was the sixth meeting between the two parties since relations began improving in 2008, but it’s the first since Xi became China’s new president and Communist Party leader in recent months. The meeting focused on deepening and expanding bilateral relations.
