Hon Hai's 35 production sites listed as top 200 Apple suppliers

Taipei, March 9 (CNA) A total of 35 production sites run by Taiwan-based manufacturing giant Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. have been included among the top 200 suppliers of Apple Inc.

Other Taiwanese manufacturers such as integrated circuit packaging and testing services provider ASE Technology Holding Co., smartphone camera lens supplier Largan Precision Co., metal casing maker Catcher Technology Co., and passive electronics component maker Yageo Corp., also have been put on the latest Apple top suppliers list.

The 200 production sites accounted for about 98 percent of Apple's suppliers.

According to the 2019 Apple supplier list, assembly sites for Apple products run by Hon Hai, also known as Foxconn in the global market, in China included factories located in Longhua, Futian and the Guanlan Technology Park in Shenzhen city, Foshan and Zhongshan in Guangdong province, Kunshan and Huaian in Jiangsu province and Zhengzhou in Henan province.

Meanwhile, Hon Hai's factories located in Wuhan of Hubei province, Taiyuan and Jincheng of Shanxi province, and Chengdu of Sichuan province, have been listed as Apple's top 200 suppliers, the latest supplier list showed.

The list also included other Hon Hai assembly sites outside China, including plants located in Sao Paulo, Brazil; Fort Worth, Texas; Bac Giang, Vietnam; Tainan, Taiwan, and Tamil Nadu, southern India.

In addition, five factories run by Osaka-based Sharp Corp., which is about 66 percent owned by Hon Hai, is also one of Apple's top 200 suppliers. The five Sharp factories are located in China, Japan and Vietnam.

As for ASE Technology, the world's largest IC packaging and testing firm, nine of its factories located in Taiwan, China and South Korea, also have been named on Apple's top 200 supplier list.

Meanwhile, four production sites run by Yageo and located in China and Taiwan have been put on the latest list. They make passive components such as chip resistors, inductors and multi-layer ceramic capacitors (MLCC), according to the U.S. consumer electronics giant.

The four Yageo plants are currently operational in Dongguan, Guangdong province; Suzhou, Jiangsu province and Taiwan's Kaohsiung city.
