Taipei, June 29 (CNA) A Vietnamese woman, who entered Taiwan illegally about one year ago and was selling clothing via livestreaming, was arrested last week, the National Immigration Agency (NIA) said Friday.
In a press release, the NIA said Tham Thi Thuy paid a smuggler NT$200,000 (US$6,528) to get her into Taiwan via China's Fujian Province and she soon launched a business to sell clothes online.
As Tham's livestream sales took off on Facebook, an anonymous person reported her to the police, probably out of envy, the NIA said.
The agency said a ruse was devised to send a registered package to Tham, which required her signature upon receipt, and she was arrested when she came out of her residence in Dasi District, Taoyuan City, to collect the mail.
Tham will be deported for violation of Taiwan's immigration laws, the NIA said, adding that she had been deported from Taiwan once before.
According the NIA, Tham had been employed as a migrant worker at a Taiwanese technology company years ago but she absconded and was subsequently deported.
The NIA said it will carry out an investigation to find the person who helped smuggle Tham back into the country.
