Taipei, Aug. 30 (CNA) Central and Southern Taiwan could continue to see torrential rain even as Tropical Storm Kong-Rey moves away from the island, the Central Weather Bureau said Friday.
Accumulated precipitation in areas south of Changhua County is expected to reach 200 millimeters over the next 24 hours, brought by the storm's outer band.
Boats operating in waters north of Taiwan should also be on alert for strong winds, the weather bureau said.
As of 8 a.m., the storm was centered some 470 kilometers north-northeast of Taipei, moving northeast at a speed of 21 kilometers per hour, with sustained winds of 65 kph and gusts up to 90 kph.
