Taipei, June 25 (CNA) Some 400 military personnel will give musical performances over the next two days to mark the 75th anniversary of a historic battle between Republic of China and Japanese forces, the Ministry of National Defense said Monday.

Earlier in the day, in preparation for the upcoming two concerts, members of the military's chorus and band performed a rehearsal at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei.

The performances will be dedicated to those who laid down their lives to protect the country during the Marco Polo Bridge Incident, also known as the Lugochiao Incident of July 1937.

The battle, which took place when China was still under the rule of the Nationalist government of the ROC, marked the start of China's eight-year war of resistance against Japanese aggression.

Members of the military will dance and sing against a backdrop of the China of 75 years ago to open the two-hour concerts on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Taipei Philharmonic Youth and Children's Choir, as well as the renowned U Theatre, will also perform, the ministry said.

In addition, award-winning singer Sky Wu and Miu Chu, the winner of a local talent show, will perform a variety of famous pop songs.
