Taipei, April 1 (CNA) Children under the age of 12 who hold Taipei Digital Student Cards or New Taipei Children's Cards can ride local metro systems for free from April 3 to April 6 to mark Children's Day, Taipei Rapid Transit Corp. said Tuesday.
During the same period, all Taiwanese children under 12 will have free access to the Maokong Gondola, Taipei Children's Amusement Park and Taipei Arena Ice Land, which are operated by the company's subsidiary, Taipei Metro Recreation, the company said in a news release.
One accompanying parent will receive free admission to the amusement park, while skate and protective gear rentals at Ice Land will still be charged separately.
Taipei Metro Recreation said Wednesday that during the period, the amusement park will extend its operating hours from the usual 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with activities such as adventure challenges and raffles added to the program.
On Children's Day, April 4, the park will also host a 40-second fireworks show at 8 p.m., the company said.
The holiday weekend covers both Children's Day and Tomb-Sweeping Day on April 5.
