Taipei, July 1 (CNA) The price of natural gas will remain stable and the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) be increased starting Monday, the nation's state-owned petroleum company CPC Corp. Taiwan announced Sunday.

The price hike will come into effect from 12 a.m. Monday, the company announced.

The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) will be raised by NT$0.3 (US$0.0098) per liter, or NT$6 for a 20-liter canister of LPG, CPC said.

CPC will also raise the price of industrial propane, butane and propane-and-butane mixtures by NT$0.3 per liter, while the price of vehicle-use LPG will increase by NT$0.1 per liter.

CPC said that according to the company's formula for calculating the price of natural gas, domestic natural gas prices for July should be increased due to rising crude oil prices. However, CPC decided against the raise to assist the government's policy of stabilizing commodity prices.
