Taipei, Dec. 23 (CNA) Production of the Asus Transformer Prime tablet will continue and will not be affected by a trademark infringement lawsuit filed by U.S. toymaker Hasbro, maker of theinternationally known Transformers line of toys, Asus spokesmanChang Wei-ming said Saturday.
Internal assessments conducted by the company found no patent infringement issues and the company feels that the lawsuit is unlikely to affect production, Chang said.
The spokesman was responding to a recent trademark infringement lawsuit filed in Los Angeles against the Taiwanese computermanufacturer by Hasbro over the Transformer Prime tablet computer name.
According to Hasbro, the Asus Transformer Prime label might cause confusion among consumers.
The toymaker is suing Asus for trademark infringement, unfair competition and trademark dilution, according to the InternationalBusiness Times.
Hasbro asked the court to stop Asus from using the Transformer name in current and future products, and will beseeking monetary compensation for damages, the report added.
