Taipei, April 17 (CNA) Warm and mostly dry weather will prevail across Taiwan on Thursday, with daytime temperatures in the western half of the island reaching 31 to 32 degrees Celsius, and those conditions are expected to last until next Tuesday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).

Under the influence of southeasterly winds, partly cloudy to sunny skies will be seen across most of Taiwan on Thursday, although some scattered showers are likely in the eastern half of the island and the Hengchun Peninsula in the south, the CWA said.

Daytime temperatures will rise on Thursday to over 32 degrees in mountainous areas in central, southern, and western Taiwan, and to 27 to 28 degrees in the east, the weather agency said.

The mercury will drop overnight to lows of 18-21 degrees across Taiwan, according to the CWA.

On Friday, the weather is expected to turn cloudy, and the moisture in the air will increase on Saturday, the CWA noted.

A weather front is forecast to pass through Taiwan on Sunday, bringing sporadic showers and thunderstorms to northern Taiwan, while skies in other areas will remain cloudy.

Another weather front is expected to arrive next Tuesday, bringing similar conditions, the CWA said. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely in central, northern, and northeastern Taiwan, with sporadic rain in the east.

From April 24 to 26, abundant moisture in the air is likely to result in sporadic thundershowers, while the weather across Taiwan will turn cooler, according to the CWA forecast.

Meanwhile, from Friday through next Tuesday, daytime highs of 31 to 32 degrees are expected in the western half of Taiwan, 28 to 30 degrees in the eastern half, and 26 to 30 degrees on outlying islands.

Next Wednesday, the mercury will fall to 24 degrees in northern Taiwan, while other areas can expect a drop of 2-4 degrees, the CWA predicted.
