Textbook disputes challenge education minister-designate

Minister of Education-designate Cheng Jei-cheng was faced with the thorny issue Tuesday of whether to maintain a long-criticized textbook policy -- one set of guidelines for textbook publishers but with schools allowed to choose from multiple texts -- in his first meeting with the media after his appointment was announced.
