Taipei, May 2 (CNA) Taipei Main Station had the highest passenger volume among all the metro stations in the Taipei Mass Rapid Transport system in 2011, registering 113.48 million passengers, according to statistics published by the Taipei City government Wednesday.
With 10.02 percent of the total volume of passengers, Taipei Main was way ahead of Taipei City Hall in second place with 3.80 percent, Ximen in third place with 3.79 percent, and Zhongxiao Xinsheng at fourth with 3.30 percent.
Total ridership in the system last year was 566.40 million, according to the data from the Taipei City Department of Budget, Accounting and Statistics.
On average, the daily ridership was 1.55 million, which was a 12.06 percent increase compared with 2010, the statistics showed.
Revenue from the metro last year was estimated at NT$12.14 billion (US$415 million), according to the data.
Last year, there were 94 stations in the system, which covered 101.94 km in Taipei and New Taipei City.
