KMT's head Eric Chu, deputy head Hau Lung-bin step down

Taipei, Jan. 16 (CNA) Eric Chu (朱立倫), presidential candidate of the ruling Kuomintang (KMT), conceded defeat in Saturday's presidential election and announced his resignation as KMT chairman.

KMT Vice Chairman Hau Lung-bin (郝龍斌)also announced he was stepping down as the party's deputy head following his defeat in the legislative election in Keelung.

Chu offered his congratulations to his main rival, Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) of the Democratic Progressive Party, for winning the election.
