Taipei, Sept. 24 (CNA) The ruling Kuomintang's presidential candidate Hung Hsiu-chu (洪秀柱) Thursday met with university students, party functionaries and members of labor unions in Changhua, central Taiwan, to campaign for KMT policies.

Giving a lecture on education and career development at the Dayeh University Thursday morning, Hung said her campaign team is eager to solve the problems of young people, including their relatively low pay in the job market.

The government should fulfill its supporting role behind businesses in improving the job market environment, she said.

At a meeting with representatives from farmers and labor associations and party functionaries in the afternoon, Hung spoke of relations between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait and Taiwan's international participation, pointing out that the nation will have difficulty pushing forward its efforts in participating in regional integration or international economic cooperation projects, unless cross-strait relations issues can be properly resolved.

She also mentioned the problem of conflict among political parties and stressed the importance of sound laws and policies as foundations for Taiwan's development.
