Singapore, May 25 (CNA) The Taiwan Pavilion at the annual Singapore Book Fair opened Friday with the display of more than 15,000 volumes covering various topics featuring Taiwanese literature.

Apart from the book display and an introduction to digital reading, the pavilion will hold a series of workshops in which Taiwanese authors are invited to converse with their local counterparts on subjects related to their work, according to Taiwan's Ministry of Culture, which set up the pavilion.

In addition, four classic Taiwanese films, including the 1985 comedy drama "Rose Rose I Love You," will be screened at the pavilion in the hope that overseas audiences will get to know Taiwan's classic literature, as well as stories about people and the land of Taiwan, said Chang Shueh-mei (張雪梅), chief strategic officer of Taipei-based Linking Publishing.

Chang is a member of the Taiwanese delegation organized by the Ministry of Culture to attend the 2018 Singapore Book Fair, which opened Friday and will run through May 31.

After the Singapore event, the delegation will travel to Kuala Lumpur for the 13th BookFest@Malaysia, the country's largest book exhibition, which is scheduled to take place June 9-17.
