Taipei, Dec. 15 (CNA) The Central News Agency (CNA) on Friday won the Contemporary Taiwan Development Foundation's "Contemporary Financial Journalism Award" for outstanding reporting in print for its comprehensive series analyzing China's "One Belt, One Road" (OBOR) initiative.

CNA won first prize in the category, while the Economic Daily News and Commercial Times also won accolades for financial reporting.

CNA's series, titled "Not just economics: the political economy behind China's One Belt, One Road initiative," features interviews and analyses from government officials, scholars, and business people compiled and co-written by a number of CNA's correspondents in Taiwan, mainland China and South and Southeast Asia.

It was published in May.

The aim of the reports is to increase the public's understanding of OBOR's global economic influence as well as provide concrete policy suggestions for investments and development in South and Southeast Asia.

The foundation has been hosting the awards for six years.

Its chairman Huang Hwei-chen (黃輝珍) stressed the importance of traditional media content even in the age of new and social media.

According to Huang, the fact that a lot of the new media platforms still present traditional journalism means that such content continues to have value.
