Taipei, Nov. 11 (CNA) Taiwanese badminton player Pai Yu-po (白馭珀) secured a spot in the women's singles final Saturday at the 2017 Macau Open after a 2-1 comeback win against world No. 60 Zhang Yiman of China.

Pai, ranked 42nd by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), lost the first set but eventually managed to find form to beat Zhang 20-22, 21-16, 21-11 in the semifinals.

In a post-game telephone interview, Pai told CNA that she rushed many of her shots in the opening set, and as a result committed quite a few unnecessary errors.

"I tried to correct my strokes in the second set, one after another," Pai said, adding that she managed to overcome her first set loss in part because her opponent made more mistakes toward the end.

"But overall, I tried to remain clearheaded and eventually found my rhythm again," she said, adding that she had probably played a bit too cautiously at the start.

Pai said she would discuss the final with her coach when her opponent is announced.

"I have to be well prepared," she said. "For the rest, we'll just have to see during the game."

The Macau Open, categorized by the Badminton World Federation as a Grand Prix Gold level event, carries a total prize of US$120,000.
