Taipei March 13 (CNA) Dominique Levy, the chairman of theAssociation of French in Taiwan, was honored by the French governmentFriday for his efforts to promote French wine in Taiwan.
Levy was presented with the insignia of Officier du MeriteAgricole, an award for agricultural merit, by Patrick Bonneville,director of the French Institute in Taipei, on behalf of the Frenchminister of agriculture.
Levy, who has lived in Taipei for 28 years, has successfullyintroduced quality French wine to Taiwanese gourmets through hisknowledge of French wine and his familiarity with Taiwan.
Upon receiving the award, Levy said it was his deep convictionthat wine is a world heritage, one that holds the memory of mankind.
At the same time, he urged winemakers to use natural and organicproduction methods to protect the world's fragile environment.
