Taipei, Oct. 13 (CNA) The Greater Taipei area and eastern Taiwan will see sporadic showers on Wednesday, with rainfall potentially intensifying along the north coast and in Yilan County on Thursday, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said Tuesday.

Elsewhere, skies will be mainly cloudy to sunny, although afternoon showers are possible in mountainous areas of the south, the CWA added.

From Friday through Monday, most of Taiwan will have cloudy to sunny weather, while eastern Taiwan and the Hengchun Peninsula in the south may see scattered showers, CWA forecaster Wang Pin-hsiang (王品翔) told CNA.

Temperatures in southern Taiwan will remain relatively steady throughout the week, with daytime highs of 30-33 degrees Celsius and some areas reaching 34-35 degrees. Nighttime lows will range from 22-25 degrees, Wang said.

In northern Taiwan, daytime highs will hover between 27-29 degrees on Wednesday before gradually rising from Friday, reaching 30 degrees or higher over the weekend, he said.

Meanwhile, radiative cooling could cause nighttime temperatures to drop below 20 degrees Celsius in areas north of central Taiwan on Wednesday and from Friday through Monday. Wang advised the public to be prepared for significant day-night temperature differences.

Radiative cooling occurs when the ground loses heat under clear skies, with light winds and dry conditions.
