Taipei, Oct. 13 (CNA) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said Tuesday it is cooperating with an ongoing investigation into a Taiwanese software company suspected of repackaging China-developed software and selling it to the ministry for use on computers at Taiwan's overseas offices.

MOFA said that during a routine information security check at overseas offices in December 2025, a government security team found that part of an information technology (IT) asset management software package developed by Taiwan's Kun You Technology (坤侑科技) and installed on computers at the offices had originally been developed by Chinese company Guangzhou Yixin Technology (廣州溢信科技).

MOFA said it had reviewed the records of all computers on which the software was installed and found no unusual data transmissions over the past year.

The computers running the software were used for IT asset management and did not contain confidential diplomatic information, the ministry said.

MOFA said it immediately reported the finding to the Ministry of Justice's Investigation Bureau and is now cooperating with the bureau and its New Taipei City field division on the investigation.

The ministry's statement came after investigators on Monday searched 10 locations linked to three companies, including Kun You Technology, and questioned four people on suspicion of violating the Government Procurement Act (政府採購法).

Prosecutors allege that Kun You Technology modified the user interface of IP-guard, a software product originally developed by Guangzhou Yixin Technology, and marketed it as Taiwanese-developed.

The act prohibits the procurement of China-made information and communications technology products on security grounds.
