Taipei, Oct. 12 (CNA) Taiwanese men's and women's doubles pairs each took home silver medals after losing in the finals of the 2026 Arctic Open, a Badminton World Federation (BWF) Super 500 tournament, in Vantaa, Finland, on Sunday (local time).
In the women's doubles finals, world No. 8 pair Hsu Yin-hui (許尹鏸) and Lin Jhih-yun (林芝昀) lost 21-18, 21-19 to China's Chen Fan Shutian (陳樊淑湉) and Luo Xumin (羅徐敏) in two games that remained neck-and-neck throughout.
Speaking to reporters, Hsu and Lin said the Chinese duo's style of play had kept them on the back foot, and they had been unable to break through their opponents' defense in the closing stages of each game.
The pair noted that Sunday's defeat was the third time they had made the finals and lost in a BWF Super 500 tournament since teaming up in 2023, joking that "maybe the fourth time's a charm."
In men's doubles, Taiwan's Lai Po-yu (賴柏佑) and Tsai Fu-cheng (蔡富丞), both 20, also lost a closely contested 21-19, 21-19 final to Malaysia's Aaron Tai (戴偉欽) and Yap Roy King (葉睿慶).
