Daytime temperatures across Taiwan forecast to rebound Thursday to Sunday
Taipei, Nov. 20 (CNA) Temperatures across Taiwan will start to rise again during the day on Thursday, and the weather will remain warm until Sunday, after which seasonal northeasterly winds will strengthen again, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
On Thursday, northern and northeastern Taiwan will see highs of 20-22 degrees Celsius, while in central and southern Taiwan the mercury will rise to 25-27 degrees, the CWA forecast.
Nighttime lows will hover around 15-17 degrees across the country, the CWA said.
In the early hours of Thursday, the lowest temperature recorded in a low-lying region in Taiwan was 12.8 degrees in Nantou County's Mingjian Township, according to CWA data.
The warmer daytime temperatures will last until Sunday, and the mercury will fall from Monday though Wednesday at night and early in the morning in northern Taiwan and other parts of the country, with the arrival of northeasterly winds, the CWA forecast.
Lows in northern and central Taiwan will drop gradually to around 15 degrees, while southern Taiwan will see nighttime temperatures of 18-19 degrees, according to the CWA.
However, daytime highs will hover at 25-26 degrees in northern Taiwan, 28-29 degrees in central areas, and 29-30 degrees in the south, the CWA said.
Meanwhile, the CWA has forecast sporadic localized showers on the north coast, in Yilan and Hualien counties, and in mountainous regions of the Greater Taipei Area on Thursday.
Taitung County, the Hengchun Peninsula, and areas north of Taoyuan may see some light drizzles, according to the CWA.
Other parts of the country, including the outlying Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu islands, can expect cloudy skies, while there will be occasional sunshine in central and southern Taiwan on Thursday, the CWA said.
By Friday, only sporadic showers will continue in eastern and northern Taiwan and on the Hengchun Peninsula, while other parts of the country will see cloudy skies, according to the CWA.
On the weekend, the sporadic rain will continue on the northern coast, in mountainous regions of the Greater Taipei area, in eastern Taiwan, and on the Hengchun Peninsula, and cloudy to sunny skies will prevail across the rest of the country, the CWA said.
