Taipei, June 11 (CNA) The Maokong Gondola, a popular aerial cable car in Taipei's Wenshan District, will suspend operations from June 16 to June 30 for annual maintenance, with service set to resume on July 1, according to the Taipei Rapid Transit Corp. on Wednesday.
The company said in a statement that the temporary closure is necessary to maintain safety, quality and stability.
The Maokong Gondola, which covers a 4-kilometer route across four passenger stations, has been in service for over 18 years and undergoes a full maintenance service each year, the company added.
This year's work includes cable trimming, equipment overhauls, system testing and improvement projects such as station repainting and restroom renovations, according to the company.
While the gondola is closed, passengers heading to the hilltop Maokong area are advised to take the BR15 MRT Brown Line Shuttle Bus, the S10 Mountain Bus, or the Maokong Left (Zoo) Taipei Sightseeing Bus.
