Scaffolding collapses at New Taipei construction site hitting cars

Taipei, May 22 (CNA) Scaffolding at a construction site on Minle Road in Zhonghe District, New Taipei, collapsed at around 7 p.m. Thursday damaging a passing car but causing no injury to the driver.

Two other nearby vehicles were struck by falling debris when the scaffolding, measuring approximately 10 meters long and five meters wide, gave away, according to the New Taipei Fire Department.

The Fire Department said the construction site is a six-story building project, and an investigation is under way to determine the reason for the incident.
