Taipei, March 11 (CNA) There will be a sunset aligning with Mintsu Rd. in Chiayi City between 5:20 p.m.-5:40 p.m. March 13-17, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said Monday in a release of its first forecast of sun alignments across Taiwan for this year.

The incident, which often takes place on east-west streets of the city's main street grid, has drawn increasing interest in recent years as local residents share the information online, drawing hordes of photographers hoping to capture the view.

As a result, the CWB said, it has reviewed previously reported information to predict precisely when the event will occur, based on its geolocations and sunset times.

The bureau said the event will be visible April 30 and Aug. 13 on Zhongxiao West Rd. in Taipei, Sept. 29 in the same location in Chiayi, Nov. 11 on Mintsu Rd. in Nantou City, as well as Nov. 12 on Cingnian Rd. in Kaohsiung.

The events are forecast to take place around one hour before sunset. To check sunset hours for the different areas, visit https://www.cwb.gov.tw/V7e/knowledge/astronomy/sunrise.htm

The CWB said it will continue to compile information from members of the public and run astronomical data to provide more similar forecasts in the future.

The bureau also cautioned that people hoping to capture the moment should wear dark glasses to protect their eyes.
