Taipei, Nov. 22 (CNA) A middle-aged working woman who won NT$1.24 billion (US$41 million) in Taiwan's Power Lottery earlier this year has been using the money to fund her children's education and plans to travel around the world, as she had dreamed, the lottery company said Wednesday.

The woman, who lives in the central Taiwan city of Changhua, is an employee at a private company and has two children in university, Taiwan Lottery Co. General Manager Huang Chi-yi (黃志宜) said.

As the sole winner of the Aug. 31 lottery draw, her prize was NT$12.4 billion and she received NT$990 million after taxes, Huang said.

She has already donated NT$40 million to charity and plans to send her children to study abroad, which was one her dreams, he said.

Another dream of hers was to travel the world, which she also plans to do, Huang said.

In addition, she will set aside a retirement fund and buy at least two houses, he said.

According to Huang, the woman showed up with her husband and two children to collect the prize, which was the biggest this year among the computer-based lotteries in Taiwan.

Huang said the woman had been buying lottery tickets for 10 years at outlets near her home in Changhua and the winning one was purchased near her husband's workplace with NT$100 that she gave him.
