Taipei, Aug. 23 (CNA) Temperatures across Taiwan are expected to rebound on Wednesday as Tropical Storm Hato moves away from the country, the Central Weather Bureau forecast.

Daytime highs could hit 36 degrees Celsius in the greater Taipei area and 32 to 35 degrees around the rest of the country, the bureau said. Chances are also high that thundershowers could occur in the afternoon.

Due to the effects of the periphery of the tropical storm, there will be gusty winds along the country's coastal areas before Wednesday noon, particularly in eastern and southwestern Taiwan, it said.

There could also be rogue waves along Taiwan's northern and southwestern Taiwan, the bureau warned, and it urged the public to be on alert if engaged in water activities.

In terms of air quality, Environmental Protection Administration data showed the air quality was generally good around Taiwan as of 11 a.m.

It was expected to remain good in southern and eastern Taiwan but change to fair, with slightly elevated concentrations of PM2.5 particulates, in the central and northern parts of Taiwan later Wednesday and over the next two days.
