Taipei, June 30 (CNA) Taiwan officially completed its transition to digital TV broadcasting Saturday, switching off its analog signals for the last time.
It was the final step in a four-phase process that began May 7.
"We are witnessing a historic moment," said Premier Sean Chen at the symbolic changeover ceremony in Taipei.
Northern Taiwan was the last area to make the transition from analog to fully digital wireless TV broadcasting.
The next step will be to develop content for digital TV, according to Premier Chen.
National Communications Committee Chairwoman Su Herng and Minister without Portfolio Chang Chin-fu also attended the ceremony.
