Taipei, March 13 (CNA) The Ministry of Finance will launch an official mobile app next year that will allow winners of the bi-monthly uniform invoice lottery managed by the ministry to claim their prizes through electronic transactions and have their prize money remitted into their bank accounts, according to a ministry report.

According to the report to be delivered by Finance Minister Sheu Yu-jer (許虞哲) to the Legislative Yuan Wednesday, the app will be launched next year and the number of outlets in which winners of prizes of NT$1,000 (US$34) or below can claim their prize money will increase from about 1,000 at present to 12,968, including the four major convenience store chains in Taiwan and several financial institutions.

Meanwhile, Finance Information Service Co. Ltd., which provides financial institutions with interbank operations and services, said that Chunghwa Post offices around Taiwan will no longer provide prize payment services next year, when the term of its contract with the ministry ends.

However, First Bank, Chang Hwa Bank, Agriculture Bank of Taiwan, Credit Cooperatives, Credit Departments of Farmers' and Fishermen's Associations will provide payment services.

Once these financial institutions begin to offer the service, electronic invoice users who have downloaded the app and entered their paperless uniform invoice numbers will be able to have their prize money automatically directed to their bank accounts.

At the same time, the four major convenience store chains -- 7-Eleven, FamilyMart, OK Mart and Hi-Life, and two supermarket chains -- Simple Mart and Pxmart, will provide payment services for prizes of NT$1,000 or below, while financial institutions will not impose a cap on the amount of prize money they will pay.
