U.S. dollar closes lower on Taipei forex (update)

The U.S. dollar fell against the Taiwan dollar Friday, shedding NT$0.145 to close at NT$32.513 as traders were encouraged by the strength of other regional currencies to increase their holdings in the local unit, dealers said.
