Taipei, July 24 (CNA) Delta Electronics Inc., a Taiwan-based power-management-system supplier, said Tuesday that it was launching a co-branded LED light bulb with President Chain Store Corp., which operates 7-11 convenience stores nationwide, in an effort to boost its local market share.
The first batch of co-branded LED light bulbs--totaling 300,000 units--had been shipped to the warehouse of the convenience stores, and was expected to enter the local market in two days, said Roland Chiang, director of Delta Electronics' solid-state lighting division.
The second batch of the energy-saving light bulbs, totaling 300,000 units, was also ready for shipments, he said.
Chiang said he was confident the company would be able to sell 700,000 to 800,000 of the co-branded light bulbs in Taiwan this year.
Delta Electronics Inc. first launched its own branded LED light bulbs in 2010, using Internet portals such as Yahoo as its distribution channel.
In 2011, the company began expanding its distribution channels to include offline retailing companies, such as Costco, B&Q Hardware Stores and small local retailers.
The company was hoping that by cooperating with the convenience-store giant, it would become the top selling brand of LED light bulbs in Taiwan, Chiang said.
In addition, he estimated that the company's global shipment of LED light bulbs manufactured for international brands would grow to 2 million units this year.
