Taipei, July 20 (CNA) Thirty Taiwanese companies will be promoting their premium products in western China Saturday with the help of a pop star and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).
The companies will display 172 products, ranging from sports and leisure goods and home appliances to health care devices, at the Taiwan Excellence exhibition in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province.
TAITRA is staging the promotion with the help of department store Chicony Plaza and electronics retailer Buynow, and it has also invited popular girl band S.H.E member Hebe to appear at the event and pitch Taiwanese products to Chinese consumers.
The council targeted Chengdu because of the city's considerable business potential, which is driven by a desire to establish itself as one of China's best western cities in terms of overall competitiveness, entrepreneurship and living environment, TAITRA said.
The council will actively promote goods from Taiwan in several Chinese cities this year as part of its 2012 Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) Project.
The project is focused on promoting the Taiwan Excellence brand, which stands for Taiwan's ingenuity in product and technological innovation.
The theme of the IMC Project this year is "Taiwan Excellence and Fun Living." It has attracted 30 Taiwanese companies, including Merida Bikes, computer accessory and ozone sterilizer manufacturer Cashido Corp., and eco-friendly product producer Da Ai Technology Co., said TAITRA Executive Vice President Walter Yeh.
The program's next stop is scheduled to be Qingdao in Shandong Province in August.
