Police fire 8 shots at an unlicensed taxi that refused inspection at Taoyuan Airport

An unlicensed taxi driver refused a police inspection outside Taoyuan International Airport on Saturday morning and tried to flee, nearly hitting officers, prompting police to fire eight shots, first into the air as warnings and then at the tires, to stop the vehicle. During the chaos, a tourist from Hong Kong was thrown from the car and nearly run over. No one was struck by gunfire or the vehicle, and the driver -- who illegally solicited passengers while operating a rented Tesla -- was arrested after police subdued him.
