Lai meets U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee members

President Lai Ching-te on Friday expressed hope that Taiwan and the United States can deepen cooperation on defense and military equipment, as he received a delegation led by U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, along with Senator Deb Fischer, also a member of the committee. In response to Lai’s remarks, Fischer said the U.S. Senate understands “the gravity of the challenges that Taiwan faces,” while Wicker said that their visit was meant to “bring a strong message of friendship and mutual defense for our two democracies.”
