Taipei, July 18 (CNA) Taiwanese infielder Lee Hao-yu (李灝宇) drove in two runs with a go-ahead double in the ninth inning Friday, lifting the Detroit Tigers to a 2-1 comeback victory over the Los Angeles Angels.

Starting at second base and batting seventh in his first game after the All-Star break, Lee was hitless with two strikeouts in his first three at-bats.

Detroit still trailed 1-0 when Lee came to the plate against two-time All-Star closer Kirby Yates with two outs and runners on first and second in the ninth.

Lee connected on a low 91.9 mph fastball and drove it into the right-center field gap, bringing home both runners and putting the Tigers ahead 2-1.

According to MLB.com, the double left Lee's bat at 104.9 mph (168.8 kph) and traveled 359 feet.

Detroit preserved the lead in the bottom of the inning to secure the win.

Lee finished 1-for-4 with two RBIs and two strikeouts, extending his hitting streak to three games. The double was his seventh of the season. Lee is batting .255 with a .288 on-base percentage and a .392, slugging percentage this season.

The Tigers improved to 45-52 and remain fourth in the American League Central, 6.5 games behind the division-leading Chicago White Sox.

Elsewhere Friday, Boston Red Sox shortstop Cheng Tsung-che (鄭宗哲) had a hit in both games of a doubleheader sweep of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Starting at shortstop and batting ninth in both games, Cheng went a combined 2-for-6 with one RBI, one run scored and a walk as Boston won the opener 10-0 and the nightcap 5-3.

His RBI came on a well-placed bunt single with the bases loaded during a six-run sixth inning in the opener. Cheng then singled and scored in the second game.

The sweep extended Boston's winning streak to 11 games, its longest since Sept. 15-25, 2016.

The Red Sox have won 16 of their 18 games since June 25, climbing from fifth to third in the American League East. They trail the second-place New York Yankees by 5.5 games and the division-leading Rays by eight.

Cheng raised his batting average to .303.

Meanwhile, the Houston Astros activated Taiwanese right-hander Teng Kai-wei (鄧愷威) from the 15-day injured list and reinstated him to the active roster Friday, according to Major League Baseball.

Teng, 27, had been sidelined with a right knee sprain since late June. He has a 4-6 record and a 4.36 ERA this season.
