Taipei, Aug. 22 (CNA) The Houston Astros recalled Taiwanese right-hander Teng Kai-wei (鄧愷威) from Triple-A on Friday, strengthening their bullpen ahead of their series opener against the Athletics.

The Astros also optioned left-hander Bryan King to Triple-A, according to the Major League Baseball club's roster announcement.

It marks Teng's return to the majors after he was optioned on July 26.

The 27-year-old Taichung native has made 25 MLB appearances this season, including 10 starts, posting a 5-6 record and a 4.35 ERA with 67 strikeouts over 68.1 innings. He has a 1.35 WHIP.

Teng began the season as a reliever before moving into Houston's starting rotation. He was later placed on the 15-day injured list with a sprained right knee.

After being activated on July 17, Teng made two relief appearances, allowing two runs over 4.1 innings, before being sent back to Triple-A.

Teng made five relief appearances in Triple-A in August, recording a 3.12 ERA.
