Taipei, Oct. 4 (CNA) Taiwanese weightlifter Chen Guan-ling (陳冠伶) on Saturday bagged a bronze medal at the 2025 World Weightlifting Championships being held in Førde, Norway from Oct. 2 to 11.
The 20-year-old won the medal for the clean and jerk event with a weight of 113 kilograms.
Unfortunately, with errors and fouls during her snatch, Chen did not have a score under the event, which also meant that she didn't have enough points to be considered for a grand medal that combines the scores of the two weightlifting events that are clean and jerk plus snatch.

Prior to Saturday, Chen had to cut weight so that she could compete in the women's 53 kg weight class, a category which differs from the 55 kg division that she was more familiar with.
Chen was forced to challenge a lower weight class because the championships did not have 55 kg available, making the Norway competition the first time she participated in the division.
Under the unfamiliar weight class, Chen was unsuccessful during her initial snatch of 89 kg.
In her second attempt, Chen decided to go directly for 90 kg but failed, yet she persevered and challenged the weight once more in her third snatch.
While she was able to lift 90 kg on the third try, the judges deemed the lift unsuccessful as they considered the bending of her wrist during the lift a foul which led to her having no score under the event.
Speaking with CNA, Chen's coach Hsu Ying-hsi (許穎溪) reflected that while Chen had to drop her weight, the nutritionists at Taiwan's National Sports Training Center were able to condition her to a satisfactory state.
Hsu added that it was regrettable that her snatch was deemed unsuccessful, but said Chen still performed well overall.
Chen is currently one of Taiwan's rising weightlifting stars, having bagged three silvers alone at the 2025 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Jiangshan, China, with a grand silver medal of 194 kg from a silver snatch medal of 83 kg, plus a silver clean and jerk medal of 110 kg.
