Western Taiwan sees hot weather Sunday

Taipei, Sept. 13 (CNA) The Central Weather Administration (CWA) on Sunday issued high-temperature warnings for 10 cities and counties across Taiwan, with the mercury reaching 37.4 degrees Celsius in Chiayi County's Dapu Township in western Taiwan in the early afternoon.

A yellow alert indicates temperatures of 36-38 degrees. Warnings were issued for Taoyuan in the north; Taichung, Changhua County, Nantou County, Yunlin County, Chiayi City and Chiayi County in central Taiwan; Tainan, Kaohsiung and Pingtung County in the south.

According to CWA data, Sunday's maximum temperature at around 2 p.m. was recorded in Dapu, followed by a reading of 36.7 degrees in Xihu Township, Changhua County and 36.5 degrees in Nansi District, Tainan.
