Taipei, June 28 (CNA) The Central Weather Administration (CWA) on Sunday issued heavy rain advisories for northern Taiwan and mountainous areas of central Taiwan through the night, warning of heavy rainfall, lightning and strong gusts.
According to the CWA, a heavy rain advisory is issued when accumulated rainfall is expected to exceed 80 millimeters in 24 hours or 40 mm in one hour.
The advisories cover Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Keelung City and Yilan County, as well as mountainous areas of Taichung and Hsinchu, Miaoli, Nantou, Yunlin and Chiayi counties.

Temperatures on Sunday are expected to range from 26-32 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan, 27-33 degrees in central Taiwan, 28-32 degrees in the south, and 27-30 degrees in eastern Taiwan, the CWA said.
Looking ahead, the CWA said scattered showers are forecast Monday for the Hengchun Peninsula and southeastern Taiwan, while most other areas will see mostly cloudy to sunny skies. Afternoon thunderstorms are expected in western Taiwan and mountainous areas, with localized heavy rain possible in some areas.
Similar conditions are forecast Tuesday, before mostly cloudy to sunny weather prevails from Wednesday through Saturday, with isolated afternoon thunderstorms mainly in mountainous areas, the CWA said.
Temperatures are expected to range from 25-35 degrees throughout next week, the agency said.
Independent meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) said temperatures will gradually rise through Tuesday, with hotter daytime conditions expected from Wednesday as mostly cloudy to sunny weather prevails.
