Taipei, Feb. 9 (CNA) Cool and partly- to mostly-sunny conditions are expected around Taiwan this week, forecasters said Monday, after temperatures dipped below 10 degrees Celsius in the north and center of the country early in the morning.
According to the Central Weather Administration (CWA), Nantou's Zhongliao Township recorded an early morning low of 7.1 degrees Monday, the coldest temperature in a low elevation area nationwide.
The mercury also dropped to 7.4 degrees in Kinmen, 7.7 degrees in Taichung's Wufeng District, and 9.2 degrees in New Taipei's Tamsui District, CWA data showed.
Partly cloudy to sunny conditions are expected across Taiwan on Monday, with high temperatures ranging from the mid-teens in the north to the upper-teens or low 20s in the south, the CWA said.
Independent meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) said temperatures will rise slightly on Tuesday, before a weak cold front arrives on Wednesday, bringing cooler weather and cloudy skies to the north and a chance of rain in the east.
From Thursday through Sunday, clear and gradually warmer weather will prevail across most of the country, but with large day-night temperature gaps, Wu said.
According to the CWA, daytime highs from Thursday through Sunday will range from the low- to mid-20s in the north and the mid- to upper-20s in the south, with the warmest temperatures expected on Saturday and Sunday.
