Taipei, June 19 (CNA) The Central Weather Administration on Thursday issued heat alerts for ten municipalities, warning residents that temperatures could reach 36 degrees Celsius or higher.
The agency issued a yellow-level heat alert for Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Chiayi City, and the counties of Changhua, Yunlin and Pingtung.
The yellow-level alert means daily maximum temperatures in these areas could reach or exceed 36 degrees.

According to independent meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮), Taiwan will experience partly sunny skies on Thursday. He urged people to be cautious of heat stroke amid high temperatures.
Wu added that after noon, brief localized showers and thundershowers are possible in mountainous areas and nearby low-lying regions, with a chance of heavy rain.
Wu said that from Friday through the following Saturday, Taiwan will continue to experience warm weather, with brief showers and thundershowers likely in mountainous areas after midday.
