The aftershocks of a magnitude 6.8 earthquake that hit southeastern Taiwan on Sunday are expected to decrease in magnitude and frequency over the next four weeks, with a slim chance of a magnitude 5 quake occurring by Wednesday, a seismologist said Tuesday.
