Korean Wave! Former Korean Representative Lee Eun-Ho Joins 2025 Taichung Hotpot & Grill Festival Promotion Video with a Warm Smile

The highly anticipated 2025 Taichung Hotpot & Grill Festival is set to kick off, and in a meaningful gesture of cross-cultural friendship, Mayor Lu Shiow-Yen extended a special invitation to Mr. Lee Eun-Ho, former Representative of the Korean Mission in Taipei, to participate in the promotional video. Throughout the shoot, Mr. Lee radiated warmth with his gentle smile and graceful demeanor, adding a touch of elegance to the video and showcasing the friendly spirit of Korean culture.
Chang Feng-Yuan, Director General of the Economic Development Bureau, noted that the festival has grown more vibrant each year. Now in its third edition, the event is stepping onto the international stage by inviting foreign representatives based in Taiwan to take part in its promotional campaign.
“We are honored to have Mr. Lee join us,” said Director General Chang. “His participation not only strengthens the friendship between Taiwan and Korea but also brings a wave of Korean style to the event, helping this culinary festival shine globally.”
Mr. Lee previously visited Taichung in September 2024, engaging in wide-ranging discussions with city officials on tourism, economic development, and technological cooperation. Reflecting on his return for this shoot, he shared:“Cooperation between Taichung and Korea has become increasingly active, especially in the semiconductor sector. Tourism exchanges have also expanded significantly. Participating in this shoot not only helps Taichung residents form a better impression of Koreans but also gives Koreans a more positive and engaging view of Taichung. I’m very much looking forward to what lies ahead.”
For the video shoot, Mr. Lee and his team traveled to Taichung via high-speed rail. Despite a tightly packed schedule involving makeup, frequent outfit changes, and multiple filming locations, he maintained a gentlemanly smile throughout. Even under the sweltering midday sun while strolling through Taichung’s bustling shopping districts, he remained approachable and fully cooperative.
He also joined Mayor Lu for a casual walk through the streets, dressed in stylish outfits and visiting trendy local shops. Together, they explored Taichung’s vibrant Korean-inspired fashion scene and dynamic urban energy, drawing the attention of curious passersby. The atmosphere on set was cheerful and relaxed, with the mayor and Mr. Lee sharing a natural and easy rapport. On and off camera, Mr. Lee participated with genuine enthusiasm, bringing every scene to life with thoughtful expressions and graceful movement.
It’s worth mentioning that former Representative Lee shared a touching story during the filming. He explained that when kimchi has been stored for too long and becomes overly sour, Korean mothers often turn it into a comforting kimchi tofu stew — a classic homemade dish in every Korean household. His story made the atmosphere on set even warmer and more cheerful, perfectly showcasing the simplicity and warmth of Korean food culture.
In response, Mayor Lu smiled and noted that Korean cuisine is very common and popular in Taichung. One reason, she explained, is that many Korean dishes are hot pot-based, and people in Taichung especially love hot pot. That’s why we have the “Taichung Hotpot & Grill Festival.” The Mayor added with a laugh: “The best Korean food is right here in Taichung! Come and discover it!”
Another highlight of the video is the appearance of popular character Cheerful Oppa – Haerang Noh, who plays an energetic YouTuber. Together with Mr. Lee, he invites everyone to Taichung to savor hotpot and grill cuisine, explore must-visit attractions, and enjoy the rich flavors of Korean-inspired delicacies. Their lively interaction fills the video with youth, energy, and an upbeat, joyful spirit. We sincerely invite everyone to download the “Taichung Pass (TCPASS)” app or visit the Economic Development Bureau’s website to watch the special video Taichung Hotpot & Grill Festival – Korean Edition.
