6 NT$10 million prizes remain unclaimed in May-June receipt lottery

Taipei, Sept. 22 (CNA) Six NT$10 million (US$315,288) special prizes and seven NT$2 million grand prizes in Taiwan's May-June uniform invoice lottery remained unclaimed as of Tuesday, including one NT$10 million winner who spent only NT$10 on an Uber Eats delivery order, according to the Ministry of Finance (MOF).

The MOF said the 13 winners need to claim their prizes by Nov. 5.

The eight-digit serial number that won the NT$10 million special prize for May-June was 38548029, with 18 winning receipts in total. The NT$2 million grand prize number was 10138845, of which there were 22 winning receipts, according to the MOF.

In addition to the receipt issued for an Uber Eats order, the MOF said the other five receipts for the unclaimed NT$10 million special prizes included one for a NT$620 purchase of an app from Google Play and a NT$2,106 receipt issued by Chunghwa Telecom Co. for monthly telecom services.

The fourth NT$10 million prize receipt was issued by Yahsin (雅馨) bakery in Sanchong District, New Taipei, for a NT$312 food purchase, the MOF said.

According to the MOF, the fifth special prize receipt was issued by a 7-Eleven store in Sanyi Township, Miaoli County, for a NT$150 drink, while the sixth was issued by a Watsons outlet on Zhongshan Road in Dounan Township, Yunlin County, for a NT$528 purchase.

Among the seven unclaimed NT$2 million grand prizes, one receipt was issued by a 7-Eleven store on Wenzhong Road in Taoyuan District, Taoyuan, for a NT$10 drink purchase.

Another was a NT$355 receipt from a Wu (吳家) duck rice restaurant on Minzu Road in Toufen, Miaoli County, while a third was issued by a Hi-Life store on Shuimei Road in Waipu District, Taichung, for a NT$97 food purchase.

The fourth winning receipt was issued by a 7-Eleven store on Yongfu Road in West Central District, Tainan, for a NT$154 drink. The fifth NT$2 million prize receipt was issued by a CPC gas station in Liouying District, Tainan, for a NT$1,000 fuel purchase, the MOF said.

The sixth winning receipt came from a NT$110 purchase at a 7-Eleven store on Minyi Road in Siaogang District, Kaohsiung, while the seventh was issued by Wanchia (萬佳) manpower company in Pingtung for a NT$1,500 service fee, the MOF added.

The uniform invoice lottery, drawn every two months, was created to encourage consumers to collect sales receipts as part of efforts to prevent tax evasion.

The lottery is funded by 3 percent of annual business tax revenues, which are built into the prices of most goods and services under Taiwan's tax laws.
