Taipei, May 6 (CNA) Taiwanese computer maker Acer Inc. (宏碁) said Wednesday that seven of its products have won the 2015 design and innovation awards given out by the organizers of Computex Taipei, the world's second-largest computer trade show.

The products awarded this year include new devices that were unveiled at an Acer press event in New York in late April, including the Aspire Switch 10 E 2-in-1 detachable laptop, the Aspire E 15 notebook, the Predator X34 gaming monitor and the Iconia One 8 tablet.

The other three award-winning products are the Chromebook 15 notebook, the Revo One RL85 mini-PC and the stylish H257HU monitor, Acer said in a statement.

Two of the products -- the Aspire Switch 10 E and the Revo One RL85 -- have also recently won the prestigious Red Dot design awards, according to the company.

"At Acer we believe not only that our products need to be reliable and robust, but at the same time beautiful and sensational," said Seji Peng, associate vice president of Acer's industrial design business unit.

"We are constantly innovating our manufacturing processes to enhance the touch and feel of our products, such as the new textile pattern on the Aspire E 15 and the textured tartan pattern on the Iconia One 8, so that people get tactile satisfaction while holding and using them," Peng said in the statement.

The Computex design and innovation awards have been co-organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council and the world-renowned design institute iF International Forum Design since 2008.

The winning entries are selected by an international panel of experts, with evaluation criteria including degree of innovation, design quality, craftsmanship, choice of materials, environmental friendliness, functionality, utility value, safety, ergonomics, universal design, product identity and product branding.
