Taipei, Nov. 29 (CNA) Newly married singer Leehom Wang teased fans Friday with a promise of a "family photo" as more details about his bride emerged.
The 37-year-old Taiwanese-American entertainer thanked his fans through Facebook for their wishes after his surprise announcement that he and 27-year-old Lee Jinglei were married Wednesday in the United States.
The famously low-profile Wang had posted a photo of the two together to disclose their romance for the first time just one day earlier.
His latest post to microblog service Weibo on Thursday promises a "family photo" from Thanksgiving dinner to be posted the next day.
Fan speculation has gone wild as they latched onto the word "family," most of which interpret to mean Wang and Lee and possilby his parents, though others have suggested the word implies the presence of a baby.
Wang did not answer questions about children when reached by Apple Daily but did say that he and Lee have known each other for 12 years, refuting claims that his marriage came "out of the blue". The daily is a tabloid-style newspaper well known for its heavy focus on celebrity gossip.
The newspaper on Friday published photos of Wang and Lee walking side-by-side and sitting in a restaurant taken during a trip together to Oxford in the U.K. last April.
Apple Daily reported that Lee comes from a wealthy Japanese-Taiwanese family and was known by the name Michiko Nishimura when she attended Dominican International School in Taipei. Lee is apparently her mother's surname.
The paper also quoted actress Katherine Wang, an alumna of Lee's at the school, who described the newlywed as "beautiful, elegant, humorous and kind."
Lee is said to be very outgoing, making her a perfect complement to her husband who despite his celebrity tends to keep quiet in his private life, the paper said.
Leehom Wang's career took off in Taiwan in 1995 and was fueled by his versatility and boyish good looks. He has been romantically linked with pop diva A-mei and actress Shu Qi but has never come forward about his past relationships, spurring on speculation about his sexuality.
While many fans have sent him best wishes, others have said they are heart-broken, while some in the gay community have greeted the news about his marriage with skepticism.
