Taipei, May 12 (CNA) Two senior high school students apologized publicly for dumping a mixture of feces and urine on homeless people after they were questioned by the police in Taipei Saturday.

"(I'm) really sorry for this. I don't know what to say except that I deeply regret hurting everyone, the school and the homeless people," said one of the students from Qiang Shu High School, surnamed Chen.

Kneeling down before the press, Chen made the apology along with his schoolmate, who were shown committing the acts around the Ximen metro station on recent nights in several online video clips filmed by another student from their school.

Chen also uploaded a video in which he apologized and said he will make every effort to make up for his mistakes.

The police said they contacted the school Friday after finding the video posted on the students' Facebook pages and summoned them Saturday to clarify details about their actions and motives.

Since they were not caught while committing the acts and since no victims have come forward to bring up charges, however, the police said the case will be focused on the students' suspected violation of the Social Order Maintenance Act.

The school said it is handling the incident according to school rules and expects the decision on the students' punishment to be made next week.
