Taipei, May 31 (CNA) Vice President Chen Chien-jen (陳建仁) on Thursday praised the contributions of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) -- the de facto U.S. embassy in Taiwan -- over the past four decades in promoting bilateral ties in the absence of official diplomatic ties.
