He noted that Taiwan will help the state recruit Chinese language faculty and offer Chinese language teachers, while Taiwanese students can go to the US to learn English.

The ministry said the program will start by sending qualified Chinese language teachers to the U.S. to support K-12 (kindergarten to 12th grade) cultural and educational teamwork, and in the future will promote cooperation of educational institutions on both sides, as well as bilateral cultural exchanges.

According to the ministry, Director of the Iowa Department of Education Ryan Wise said he is glad to work with Taiwan and looks forward to the language faculty program which could help students develop a broader view of the world.
