Taipei, July 24 (CNA) The Institute for Information Industry (III) held a reception to celebrate its 40th anniversary Wednesday that was attended by various government officials.

Chairman Lee Chih-kung (李世光) said the III will collaborate with more partners from industry, academia and the research field to promote digital transformation in Taiwan over the next 40 years.

Founded in 1979, the III was tasked with developing the information technology (IT) industry and popularizing IT usage in Taiwan.

It now positions itself as a "digital transformation enabler," while proactively finding new opportunities for Taiwanese industries by integrating its think tanks, professional training, R&D and promotional abilities to develop solutions, push reforms for the public and private sectors and enhance Taiwan's national IT competitiveness, according to a III statement.

Lee expressed hope that in the next four decades, the III will work with more partners to jointly cultivate a new generation of talent and promote a working style that focuses on "work smart, smart transformation and smart revolution."

Meanwhile, Minister Without Portfolio Kung Ming-hsin (龔明鑫) said that the III sowed the crucial seeds for IT in Taiwan, serving a variety of supporting roles during the development of the IT industry.

"Today, amid the wave of digital transformation, the III has also helped support Taiwanese industries in providing digital transformation technology and solutions," Kung added.
